****** Welcome to 'ELECTREK'.******
This is a playable demo of the full game. Guide Ralph around the maze of
wires, directing the sparks to turn off the circuits.
Watch out though, because Ralph can't take too many shocks!
The essential bits to know.
---------------------------
These are the three main things you need to know to be able to play.
1. CONTROL.
-----------
To move around the wire, left is left, right is right, and the fire button
makes Ralph jump. Forwards and backwards on the joystick makes Ralph change
to a different wire, depending on which one you're currently standing on.
For example, if you're standing on the front wire, and you want to move UP
onto the back wire, press fire to jump and then push forward to move further
'into the screen'. If you're wanting to come forward onto the front wire,
then you would pull back on the joystick to come towards you. Confused ?
Have a go and you'll see how it works.
The game control is fairly original, and for this reason it may be a bit
tricky to get the hang of at first. Be patient. Once you get to grips with
it, it'll be like second nature. ( honest! )
2. SPARKS.
----------
The sparks will travel through the switches in the direction the arrow is
pointing. Direct the spark towards one of the Trippers, which are the things
with 'ON' lit up on them. Once a spark has travelled through one of these,
the Tripper will switch 'OFF'. However, if there are any Trippers still
turned on, the spark will re-emerge out of it, and carry on buzzing round.
The idea is to get all the Trippers off to shut down the circuit. Once you've
done this, the stage ends and you're on to the next. If you point a switch
where there is no wire, the spark will escape, and there is no way to get
it back...So watch where you're pointing !
Sometimes, you will find yourself in an impossible situation, such as when
you've let all the sparks escape, or if you need to turn a switch that you
can't get to. In this event, pressing 'X' will re-start the level to let you
try again.
To rotate a switch, stand on the button, which is usually next to
it, and pull back on the joystick. The switches rotate clockwise.
3. STRIP-LIGHTS.
----------------
If you get zapped by a spark, you will lose some energy. Strip-lights boost
you're energy back up again. Direct a spark through one of these, then hop
along and stand on it while it's glowing. Your energy will gradually rise,
until it's at full power. The strip will turn itself off after a few seconds.
------------------------------------
The full game is available from us at the address above.
This game is SHAREWARE. If you like 'Electrek', you can be the proud owner
of your very own full version, including many more levels, special bonus
screens for extra points, the full instructions telling you everything in
detail, plus the features on the option screen that you can't select on the
demo version. The full version also contains loads of extra soundtracks,
backgrounds and cute noises. An absolute bargain at five pounds !
----------------------------------------------
THIS 'SHAREWARE' THING.
-----------------------
The reason 'Electrek' is only a fiver is simple. Commercial software is far
too expensive. You can go out to your local store and pay twenty quid on a
game, only to get it home and find out it's a load of crap. As for
console games, you'll probably need a small bank loan to own one of those,
and that'll probably be crap too! Being fair though, there are some great
games flying about, but the bad and ugly is far more frequent than the good.
So here you have an affordable way of buying software, and it's completely
fair. You play the demo, and if you think it's wazz, then fair enough.
However, if you would like to have the full game, plus everything that goes
with it, you send the author the registration fee, and this encourages him
or her to carry on with Shareware into the future.
Always remember. There are a lot of good shareware titles available, but it
does need your support in order to work. The people that release work as
Shareware are doing you a favour. It is THE fairest way of buying software.
CHEERS.......pob '93.
ESCape and enjoy..!
